Review of Iron Jaw and Hummingbird, a Young Adult novel by Chris Roberson

John DeNardo of the blog SF Signal presents a comprehensive review of Iron Jaw and Hummingbird (October 2008), the new Young Adult novel by author Chris Roberson.

Set on a terraformed Mars dominated by Imperial China, Iron Jaw and Hummingbird is the story of two teenagers
who work together to topple a corrupt government. According to Roberson, “the events of the novel are loosely based on real revolutions in China's history, such as the Boxer Rebellion."

In reviewing the novel, DeNardo concludes: “So the book scores on plot and character complexity, but suffers a bit with character sympathy. It was still a decent read, but the author set pretty high standards for himself with previous stories and thus I was hoping
for more.”

Iron Jaw and Hummingbird is on my reading list. I tried to purchase it a few weeks ago at the Barnes & Noble in Enfield, Connecticut, but the store didn't have a copy.
