Sadly, author, editor, and literary agent Forrest J Ackerman died Thursday, December 4, 2008. One
of science fiction and horror’s most well-known fans and collectors of memorabilia, “Forry” was 92 years old. The Los Angeles Times published an obituary.
Forry’s first published science fiction story was “A Trip to Mars,” which he wrote as a teenager in 1929 for a literary contest sponsored by the San Francisco Chronicle. Forry won first place for his age group and the story was printed in the newspaper. If anyone has a copy of this story, please consider sharing it. I contacted the San Francisco Public Library a couple of weeks ago but, unfortunately, it could not help. Thanks.
