NaNoWriMo writers launch Mars novels

Joi “SaintJoi” Weaver and Tresa Cho, two unrelated twenty-something women writers and SF fans, wasted no time in launching their respective Mars novels for National Novel Writing Month 2009, which runs from November 1st to the 30th.

SaintJoi’s yet-to-be-titled novel, set in the year 2052 and in which Dejah Sorenson, one of the early Mars colonists, “seeks to make her mark on history by recovering the long-lost Phoenix Lander,” has already reached the 16,000-word mark! (excerpt.)

Meanwhile, Cho’s novel, which involves humans on Mars and is entitled Of All Things Forgotten, has hit the 11,000-word mark!

I will be following these two veteran NaNoWriMo writers throughout the month of November.

Keep up the good work, Joi and Tresa!
