“Willpower,” a new short story by Jason Stoddard

Thanks to a recent post at the blog io9, I learned about
“Willpower” (2008), a new online short story by science fiction writer Jason Stoddard. According to io9, the story takes place in a “post-scarcity future” where character Michael Delgado considers a “willfare” job as a replacement for a crew member on a mission to Mars. Apparently, Delgado spent too many hours playing the video game Epic Mars, an Edgar Rice Burroughs pastiche.

Jason Stoddard is also the author of the novels Winning Mars (2005) and Saving Mars (2005).
