Stranded: Martian Landscape Poems

Martian Landscape Poems, by Richard L. Poss (2001)

In 2001, Richard Poss, an associate professor in the humanities program at the University of Arizona in Tucson, posted his Martian Landscape Poems on NewMars.com, the online magazine of the Mars Society. As Poss indicates, his poems illustrate “the dialectic between the emptiness of isolation and the richness of solitude” as experienced by a stranded astronaut. The first poem is about a book on Mars.
